Nestled among giant redwoods born centuries ago, on a sunny south-facing knoll above a pristine mountain brook sits an incomparable lodging experience. The unique location at the edge of a glenn of tall trees gives the guests a magical combination of sun, the splendor of the redwoods, and the delight of the creek below. The towering trees create a virtual cathedral encircling the house reaching over 200 feet to the heavens; humbling one with their length of limb as equally with their length of life. A 75-foot deck cantilevers over the infamous Humbug Creek with 3 of the towering redwoods growing right through it. This historically appointed property is built for time travel. The origin and vocabulary of every item in the house stays true to the life and times of the late 1800s – when the “west was being won.” Everything is reclaimed, repurposed, and antique – if only the furnishings could talk what stories they could tell!!

Each of the historically appointed yet luscious bedrooms has its own private bath with Victorian-level attention to detail throughout. The great room, walls of reclaimed redwood itself, soars to 26 feet above the floor. It seems to be some tall structure of the late 1800s yet with all the luxuries of modern-day. A full regulation billiard and poker hall with wide-screen TV and surround sound are just steps off the Great Room. On the lower level, guests are treated to a real movie theater with 12 ft wide front projection and surround sound. A large fire pit in the backyard is the perfect place to gather. The hot tub is state of the art with jet packs providing true hydrotherapy message

On 10 acres of the Diamond Mountain Appellation, just below the central ridge straddling both the Napa and Sonoma Valleys, we are 7 miles or 15 minutes east of the quaint, wild-west town of Calistoga. This backroads village is home to restorative thermal waters, which frequently breaking through the surface of the earth in the form of geysers and pools. Equal distance to the west is the heart of the Sonoma Valley. Famous vineyards and wineries abound in both directions.

I highly recommend The Ranch Above. The entire management team was accommodating and responsive to all our questions and needs. We had a couple days of a heat wave and had no problem with the AC. They even had an additional unit in the media room. Our entire group watched the football game with plenty of seating. The entertaining outside space was absolutely perfect.

We recently stayed at the St. Helena FarmHouse with a large group. It was an absolutely gorgeous place to spend our time in Wine Country!! We had a group of 5 couples (10 people) for a 40th birthday trip, and it was just incredible. The house is beautifully decorated, with a wonderfully equipped gourmet kitchen and a great sound system. We had a fantastic time. This place is even nicer than the pictures!! It was perfect for our extended family weekend away. We enjoyed the infinity pool, hot tub, bocce ball court, spacious areas to eat/ hang out, the media room, the sunset deck, and the huge kitchen where we could all cook.

Our six guests and I had a wonderful experience. The Ranch Above was Visually stimulating within itself and the breathtaking views beyond. We had hired a driver and van who came and collected us daily to escort us to all of our tastings by day and made sure that we returned safely by day's end.
